I have some how managed to muddle through life after High School without any major mishaps or jail time (some of you who know me probably find that pretty amazing). After graduation I went to BYU in Utah for college and graduated with a degree in Psychology. Not quite ready to start that real world grind, I got a job with Continental Airlines instead, and spent the next 15 years traveling and avoiding reality as long as possible. I transferred to Hawaii with my job in 1981. I really thought the move would be nothing more than a temporary adventure, but I fell in love with the islands and the people and have been here ever since. After my daughter was born in 1991, traveling became more and more difficult and I was forced to admit that my “settling down” days were upon me. In 1996 I started working in Mental Health for Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu. Currently I do Case Management for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Most of my recreational activities are centered around the ocean; surfing, snorkeling, lathering on sunscreen, etc... My passions, however, are traveling (yes, I’m afraid I still have the bug), art (I have Mrs. Lorring, aka “Breeze”, our High School art teacher to thank for that one), and, of course, my daughter. My family still lives in the Bay Area and I get back to El Cerrito about 3 or 4 times a year. My immediate family consists of myself, my 15 (going on 25) year old daughter, 2 slobbery mutts, a temperamental cat, and a mismatched array of tropical fish. We would have had to get a Zoo permit, but we sold the horse, set the bird free, and the guinea pig died. I think our neighbors thought the Beverly Hillbillies had moved in. All in all, I am very happy with my life and wish only that I had kept in better touch with old friends.
