Personal Info/Bio

San Pablo, Calif.–Peter Lock, chairman of the auto services
department at Contra Costa College (CCC), said he's been a
collision repair professor at the junior college in San Pablo for
more than 27 years. During that time, he's seen things evolve at a
rapid rate, he said."I started teaching here when I was 23," he said. "Things
weren't as high-tech back then. It's been a long-term learning process,
that's for sure. I've learned at least 10 times more than I knew when I
first started."
The auto services department at CCC trains people how to be
auto service technicians, customizers, body repair specialists,
mechanics, painters, damage appraisers, collision repair technicians,
parts technicians, and smog technicians, Lock said.
Lock said he is one of three full-time program instructors at
CCC, along with Steve Spilman, who teaches beginning mechanical
repair, and Mike Fernandes, who teaches advanced mechanical
repair.
